Logistics

How do I get my bouquet to you?

  • Have a friend or relative drop it off.
  • We will pick up the bouquet for $25.00 in South Maui (Kihei, Wailea, Makena). All other locations are $1.00 per mile ( one way).

How soon after the wedding do you need the bouquet?

  • As soon as possible.

I am getting married on another of the Hawaiian Islands.   Can you still freeze dry my flowers?

  • Yes! Ship your bouquet as quickly as you can after the wedding.  The flight time from any island is only 25 minutes.  Please click here for all of the details. We will ship the finished product back to your home.
Extra Purchases

My bridesmaid wants her bouquet to be freeze dried too, how much will that cost?

  • The groom's boutonniere plus one extra bouquet are free of charge. For additional flowers we will charge extra, depending on size and quantity. Call for a quotation.

Can I visit you to see your work and decide if I want to do this?

  • Certainly you can! Please be so kind to call and make an appointment, so we can make sure we will be there for you.

Can I just get my flowers preserved?

  • No, all preservation must be protected by a display. Your actual display cost is less than 10% of the total cost of your preservation, in most case. Much less than you could purchase a display of equal quality yourself. Since we we order directly from the manufacture, in large quantity, we have been able to offer our customers the lowest prices and the most creative display options. The remaining cost is the talented labor, equipment, chemicals, and overhead required to provide you with the worlds best five step floral preservation & design. This ensures the longevity of your keepsake.

Financial Matters

Do you accept credit cards?

  • Yes, we accept Visa, Master-card, Discover, and American Express  online through a  SSL secure encrypted  payment site, or we will be happy to take your credit card via , Phone ,Fax or e-mail. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us. Your private information is never shared with anyone.

Please explain the cost structure.

  • The freeze dry process itself costs $125 (for small to medium bouquets) $150 for large. This price does not include the re-assembling and mounting of the bouquet.
  •   Mounting the bouquet is highly recommended because it protects the bouquet. Prices for frames range from $35 to $550, depending on the type and size of the dome or glass case. This price includes mounting, and is fully taxable (at 4.167%; Hawaii residents only).

Do I need to pay a deposit?

  • A  $150 deposit is required before or at bouquet drop-off for the freeze dry process and is non-refundable. Once the display is chosen the remaining balance is due. This is necessary because all these domes and cases are special orders, and non-returnable.

Why is the process so expensive?

  • The freeze dry machine needed for this process is quite costly. Additionally there is electricity, pre- and post treatment, and labor-intensive preparation as well as hand crafted artisan work involved. Please click here for a quick overview of our process
  • The mounting domes and cases are all made-to-order, and are of superior quality. Preparing and mounting the flowers takes our experienced staff many hours per bouquet.
Timing related to placing orders

How long does the freeze drying and mounting take?

  • The freeze dry process itself takes approximately two weeks. Our machine may just have started a cycle, so your bouquet may have to wait two weeks (we will flash-freeze it and keep it in storage). Mounting takes one to two weeks, depending on workload and case availability. Please allow us some time to order your case! Total time is approx. 6 -10 weeks.

We will be on our honeymoon, can we choose a dome or glass case when we get back?

  • If you are like most people and do not stay away for months, yes! The freeze dry process itself takes two to four weeks, and during this time you can select a dome or glass case. The sooner you order, the sooner the bouquet will be ready.
Warranty of purchase

What if I am not happy with the end result?

  • We will work with you to make any reasonable adjustments. However, we cannot take responsibility for the quality of your flowers. Remember that flowers are a perishable natural product, and variations are normal.

What if you damage or destroy my flowers?

  • Occasionally we replace damaged flowers in a bouquet at no charge.

Is there a danger my bouquet will fade?

  • Keep it out of sunlight, or direct daylight, because flowers will fade when exposed to the ultra violet radiation of the sun. We do not extend a warranty on fading.
  • Make sure your bouquet does not get too hot or too humid.

All Of our  acrylic domes have a  built-in ultra-violet protection, filtering out more than 99% of the harmful ultra-violet light.

What are the advantages in freeze drying botanicals?

  • Freeze drying is the most perfect method of preservation. Most botanical items can be preserved virtually without change in shape or color.

Meeting with your florist:

Let the florist know that you will be freeze-drying your bouquet. This will assist them in coordinating your desired flowers with flowers that freeze-dry well. Most flowers freeze-dry beautifully.  (Chrysanthemums, Daisies, Dahlias and Bouvardia do not freeze-dry successfully.)

Should you choose red roses, Heavenly Petals of Maui   recommends "Cardinals" as they stay true to their color. During the freeze-drying process red roses can become very dark. The intensity of floral colors may mellow with age. Heavenly Petals of Maui   suggests the use of flowers with deep rich colors.

Transporting your flowers:

Whomever you designate to deliver the flowers to Heavenly Petals of Maui should prepare an ice chest as follows:

  • The ice chest should be large enough so as not to crowd or crush the flowers.

  • Cover the bottom of the ice chest with crushed ice or ice packs, cover with a towel and take to the reception.

  • When photographs are completed at the reception, place the bouquet and any other flowers to be freeze-dried in the ice chest immediately.

  • Do not allow the flowers to float in water or touch the ice.

  • Deliver to Heavenly Petals of Maui as soon as possible on your reservation date or arrange for pick-up service.

Getting married on one of the Neighbor Islands?

  • Thanks to Aloha Airlines that is no problem at all. Aloha offers "chilled cargo service" between all islands and Honolulu.  Your flowers will be kept refrigerated the entire time except that period when they are on the airplane (average flight time between Islands is 25 minutes).

Need a ride? Your hotel concierge or wedding coordinator should be able to recommend a reliable taxi service to take care of this for you.

We recommend the following method for sending your flowers:

    1. Purchase an inexpensive styro-foam cooler.

    2. Put the flowers into a plastic bag (hotel laundry bag works well), add some damp paper towel and seal the bag.

    3. Place into cooler and fill space with any kind of packing material such as foam chips, crumpled newspaper, etc.. Make sure the bouquet isn't moving around. We don't recommend blowing into the bag as the dead air space will allow the bouquet to move around during transit.

    4. Mark the cooler "TO HEAVENLY PETALS OF MAUI", Tel: 808-283-7406"

    5. Take the cooler to Aloha Airlines Cargo.

    6. When practical call us at 808-283-7406 and tell us the tracking number and the expected arrival time of the flight. Our voicemail instantly notifies us by pager of any messages so you can leave a message.

    7. Aloha charges $33.00 including tax. Maximum weight is over 40 lbs. so any cooler size is okay. Remember to specify "chilled service" or "please keep it cold."

    8. At this point we should have already processed your order, have your contact information and received payment for the order.
